Network Marketing Leads – Buy or Generate?

That is the question that many network marketers are asking. Newbies and seasoned professional alike go back and forth about whether or not to pay for their leads. Some are willing to pay top dollar for leads and others feel that generating your own free leads through Attraction Marketing is the best and only way to go.
Each way has it’s own pros and cons. Let’s take a look at some of them.
The Cons
Purchased Leads – The issue with bought leads is that although you get a few details about your prospect, they don’t know you from Adam. Most people don’t like telemarketers and so their guard will be up. You don’t what you are going to get because you really don’t know how their information was even captured. You’ll be making a cold call so you will have to get used to getting right in there and getting your prospect’s attention before they hang up on you. Purchased leads can also be pretty costly. I have seen leads cost as much as $8 per lead. This can eat up your marketing budget pretty quickly.
Attraction Marketing Leads – It takes some time to generate leads yourself especially if you are trying to do it for free. You will have to learn how to market online with attraction marketing techniques. So if you are not very good on the computer or marketing online, you will have to step outside of your comfort zone to learn. I don’t really consider that a “con” but you should know that this is required if you really want to be successful. Learning does not happen overnight so it may days or even weeks before generate a lead to call.
The Pros
Purchased Leads – You can literally buy leads today and start calling them immediately without any internet marketing experience at all. You can also buy leads that fit a certain demographic such as Stay-at-Home Moms. If you call enough paid leads, you will start to hone in on your interviewing and objection handling skills.
Attraction Marketing Leads – These leads seek you out because of your attraction marketing activities. They are interested in what you offer which is why they signed up on your capture page or responded to your advertisement. Through attraction marketing you can design a campaign to attract a targeted group. For example, by targeting other network marketers, you can market solutions to their business problems even if they say no to your business opportunity. These people will at least listen and most likely won’t hang up on you. Furthermore, once you learn the art of generating your own leads, you will get a better quality lead and you never will have to pay for them.
Although I am partial to attraction marketing, I personally don’t think there is a right or a wrong way. I think it is good to be open to all options. Only you can decide which one you like best. I encourage you to give both a try before you rule them out.
If generating your own leads through attraction marketing sounds interesting to you, I recommend Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring program. It’s a great program and his initial training, a 7 day video series bootcamp is absolutely free.
Regardless of which way you choose to go, I wish you prosperity and lots of success!
